the clean & green team update
The Clean and Green Team have been extremely busy this term. In preparation for our biodiversity flag they have been developing the wooded area to attract more animals to the habitat. Bat boxes have been placed and a hibernacculum for the hedgehogs, has been put in. They have made a leaf mould for gathering stray leaves. Planting of fruit trees and spring bulbs is underway and the beds have been prepared for Spring. The committee is currently fundraising for the school's vegetable garden. A Christmas jumper day was held on Wednesday the 21st of December and the funds raised went towards the garden, aswell as the money raised from the 5th class BAZAAR held also in December 2016.

At our last GS meeting, we spoke about the biodiversity flag.We have found a book to help each class from junior infants all the way up to 6th class learn 6 different native Irish species by the end of the year. By the time each student reaches 6th class they would have been taught 48 different Irish species. We hope on getting our biodiversity flag by the end of June 2017!

Weekly Meeting Notes
On Friday the 30th of September, The Green School Committee held an election to select two new officers.We were looking for a new chairperson and a new secretary.
Our chairperson is Thanh in room 15,
and secretary is Nicole in room 12.
Congratulations to both of you!
We would also like to congratulate Amelia, because of her two great speeches we have come up with a new position as an officer for her which is Liason organiser.

WEEKLY REMINDERS In June (Date still undecided) We Are Having an Action Day.For This Action Day Each Class Is Asked To Pick A Native Species To Do a Project On.On The Green School Notice Board There Is a Chart Where Each Class Writes Their Species That There Whole Class Has Decided on Beside Their Classes Name on The Chart. REMEMBER No Two Classes Can Have The Same Species.
On The 25th Of February 2016 The Green School Officers Went to RDS In Dublin City Centre For The Green School Expo 2016. Ms.Higgins And Sister Annette Came Along Too.
gREEN sCHOOLS 2015/2016
On Wednesday the 1st of June St. Ronans Green School Committee held their Action Day.
Each class had been assigned a native animal or plant to research and prepare a project about.
All projects were of an amazingly high standards with lots of information and pictures.
"Henry The Earthworm", a great piece displayed by Ms.White's First Class had the honour of winning first place in the project competition. Very Well Done To Them!!!
Al ot of students and classes made nature diaries to display and they were all beautiful!

The Golden Boot Award is proving very successful. Each week the class or classes with the highest number of children who walked, cycled or scooted to school receive the Golden Boot and an extra ten minutes Golden Time on Friday.

St. Ronan’s WOW launch
Children, parents and staff of St. Ronan’s N.S., Deansrath launched their WOW * day on Wednesday 15th o October 2014. This is part of a Green Schools / An Taisce initiative to encourage walking / cycling to school and to reduce the number of cars on the road. This is all working towards the school’s fourth Green Flag, for transport. To encourage the children to continue to walk / cycle to school in the future a “Golden Boot Award” will be made each week to the class with the most walkers / cyclists on Wednesdays.

Karl, Aman, Thomas and Tariq from 6th class won first prize in the Recycled Christmas Decoration competition.
Aaron from 4th class and Maja from 2nd class were runners- up. They were presented with awards and prizes by the Mayor.
